Another week another review of a sweet product I got to test with BibRave! Let me start off by saying, I LOVE hats, always have. If you're not familiar with BOCO Gear, they're a performance wear company based in Boulder Colorado that specializes in headwear for endurance athletes. Although they offer some of their own products, they also work with brands, teams, and events to create custom gear like the BibRave hat I had the pleasure of testing.

From the Website

The BOCO Gear Trail Hat is a blend between their traditional Run Hat and their Tweener Hat.

"Moisture wicking sweatband and lightweight mesh panels work with the moldable bill to make this hat exactly what you need. Function and Fashion are equal here….so by all means Train, Race, Hang out, and repeat often."

I particularly like the bit about the combination of function and fashion because BOCO Gear hit that spot on. This has quickly become my favorite hat to sport on a run, especially if I'm meeting friends at the bar or brewery after.

Function

As far as functionality, the hat is great on a run. The elasticity of the sweatband fits good and snug and is also great for keeping the hair and sweat out of my eyes. I'm also lucky enough to have been born with the gift of incredibly fair skin so the hat works wonders keeping my face from frying on my long summer runs.

One thing you also may or may not know about me is that I love to run in the rain. And if you've ever run in the rain, then you know that having a hat makes a world of difference so you can actually see without the rain pelting you in the eyes. The hat itself dries pretty quickly like most moisture-wicking gear but the brim retains water for about a day. After a particularly wet run, I'd let it air dry overnight then just throw it in the dryer on air-dry to help expedite the process.

Wrap Up

You also may or may not know that along with running in the rain, I also love the color orange, I always have. Luckily, so does BibRave so I've got plenty of access to flashy gear and the custom BibRave hats from BOCO Gear are no exception. The hat looks great and has definitely helped me identify fellow BibRave Pros at a few crowded starting lines. The review may be over but you'll be sure to see plenty more BOCO Gear featured on my Instagram and in all of my race reviews!
