Hot Chocolate 15k

It's no secret that I'm a big fan of the Hot Chocolate race series, especially the Hot Chocolate Philadelphia 15k! This was actually my third year running (although the last 2 years have been virtual). It's been a tough transition to the world of virtual races but Hot Chocolate does a great job trying to recreate the race experience, even from a virtual setting.

I was particularly excited for this year's race because I was running with a good friend of mine. We actually ran our first Hot Chocolate race together back in 2019. Back then he'd only run the 5k but since then, he's caught the running bug, and he's slowly been dialing up his mileage.

This year, he decided to tackle the 15k which was his longest run to date. I've also been struggling with some IT-Band syndrome and didn't want to push too hard for the race. So we both decided to take it easy and just enjoy a nice 15k(ish) run together. I say "ish" because in the end, we tacked on some extra mileage so he could officially run his first 10-miler!

If you check out the video below, it's pretty evident that we had a blast running the race this year. In fact, I think our support crew had as much fun cheering us on as we did running the race. Maybe it was the spiked hot chocolate!

If you're looking for a stellar virtual race experience, I highly encourage you to check out the Allstate Hot Chocolate race series. And you can use the code "BRHC20" to get a free running hat with your registration!

Check out the video below for all the race festivities! You can also check out this video for a look at all the swag and goodies you get for signing up for the race!

Cheers!
